Swan Cay is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the country. It was named like that because of its shape: from a distant view, the island looks like a huge bird that is crouching eating.
The Pajaros Island or «Swan Cay» highlights, despite being a rock that is no larger than 300 square meters, by the many species of native and migratory birds that nest in it, such as: bobo bird, pelicans, frigates, some species of doves, swallows and tropical red-billed gull, who spends most of the year at sea and only reaches the Keys to reproduce.
Facing Island Pajaros, there is a coral reef which is the only well developed on the Caribbean coast of Panama. This island is about 40 minutes by boat from Bocas Island, and is a true bird sanctuary. Isla Pájaros es considerada una de las islas más bonitas del país, y debe su nombre a que vista desde lejos parece un enorme pájaro que se encuentra agachado comiendo.
La Isla Pájaros o «Swan Cay» destaca, a pesar de ser un peñón que no mide más de 300 metros cuadrados, por la gran cantidad de especies de aves nativas y migratorias que en ella anidan tales como: el pájaro bobo, pelícanos, fragatas, algunas especies de palomas, golondrinas y la gaviota tropical de pico rojo, que pasa la mayor parte del año en mar abierto y sólo llega a los cayos para reproducirse.
Frente a Isla Pájaros se extiende un arrecife en forma de abanico que es el único bien desarrollado en la costa caribeña de Panamá. Esta Isla está a unos 40 minutos en lancha desde la Isla de Bocas, y es un verdadero santuario de aves. La experiencia de ver la gama de colores que se reflejan en la brillante mar mientras revolotean las aves en el cielo, será un verdadero refrigerio para su alma.
